Five for Friday Linky: Under the Sea!

Hello all! It's been a while since I have linked up Doodle Bugs Teaching for a Five for Friday post! I have lots of things to share so its perfect timing!

1. PENGUINS

We have seriously had a ball this week with our Sea Life theme and it all started with penguins! We are learning about features of non-fiction texts so I grabbed a non-fiction Big Book on Monday morning for my Shared Reading.

Well.... I didn't realise what I had started! The kids became obsessed with penguins! They were all ears as they learned new and exciting facts about penguins. - You see, most of the children in my grade have never seen them before. So, i have spent most of my free time this week organising last minute lessons and activities on penguins! I like to go with the flow - if the kids are interested in something, I'm happy to change things up a bit so that they are involved in their own learning.

Here are some of the penguin activities we did throughout the week.

I have put the templates and activities for these activities all together in this pack and it is available here if you are studying penguins and would like to give them a go!

2. We received a letter!!!!!

Well, not really but according to the students we did! ;)
We received a letter from a real Marine Biologist called Maria! Who told us a little about what her job involves in preparation for our excursion to the Aquarium next week. The kids were gobsmacked!!!
So of course, then we wrote about Marine Biologists and what their roles are :)

I seriously love TPT!! Have I told you that?! When you are short of time and need an idea or lesson - don't stress!!! Just log onto TPT and type in what you are looking for! That's exactly what I did yesterday and I found this adorable divers craft. I thought it would be the perfect way to end our Sea Life week :)

I got the sea diver template from Marcelle's KG Zone on TPT. Instead of making their faces I chose to use my students pics. They turned out soooo adorable. We decorated our door with them :)

3. New Aussie Blog!!

I'm really excited to announce that I am now a part of a new collaborative Aussie Teachers Blog! It is very new and still in the early stages but you have to check it out and make sure you are following to find out more! :)

4. Mothers Day!

As you know, Mothers Day is next weekend! I have created a Mothers Day pack with activities and gifts for your students to make for their mums, nans or grandmas.

You can find it here: Mothers Day Gifts!

5. SMILE!!!

Finally, I'm going to leave you all with this little quote.

I had a loooong week this week and by then end of it, I was pretty exhausted. Teaching is tiring. It's hard work. Sometimes, we forget about just how important our roles are and how much we actually DO achieve - even when we think our lesson didn't go as well as we'd hoped. It's important to reflect on your day and think of some positive things that happened and remember that we make a difference every day!
Thanks for reading guys :)
I hope you have a great weekend!
